Disorder
Individuals with Generalized Anxiety
Disorder may experience 2 or more of the following symptoms on a regular
basis:
Physical Symptoms of Generalized
Anxiety Disorder
Exhaustion, fatigue, muscle tension,
difficulty sleeping (insomnia), restlessness, feeling of a lump in your
throat, nausea, abdominal discomfort, difficulty swallowing, clammy
hands, hot flashes and frequent urination
Emotional Symptoms of Generalized
Anxiety Disorder
Nervousness, stress, excessive anxiety,
excessive worry, anger, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, and
feelings of 'being on edge' or 'ready to snap'
In many cases, experiencing some or all
of these symptoms may keep you from doing every day tasks and from
living your life. Here is how one individual described how what he was
experiencing:
"I was worried all the time, about
everything. It didn't matter that there were no signs of problems, I
just got upset. I was having trouble falling asleep at night, and I
couldn't keep my mind focused at work. I felt angry at my family all
the time."
